copy of note sent to Dr. Noda

Dr. Noda:

I just looked again at the article "Carl Hempel" and I'm disturbed by what I saw. I have seen the same problem in other articles I wrote for the EP.

Somebody edited this piece after I finished it -- I do not object to that -- but the edits are ungrammatical. I do object very much to that.

I do my best to make the articles I write grammatically correct and elegant. If someone else comes along and improves them, I appreciate that, but if whoever follows me messes them up, I find that very discouraging and annoying.

Progress and new articles?

Hi, I see a lot of work is being done on family. Can you leave me a note on its Discussion page when it's ready for review? You can also alert me on my Talk page, but I get so many messages there that I sometimes forget what the latest on a particular article is if there's no update on its Discussion page.!

In the meantime, I've been working on preparing more articles for you. Here's some that would be ready to go:

  1. Adultery (a previous writer quit on this one)
  2. Euthanasia (a writer quit before starting this one!)
  3. Divorce {another writer quit before starting this!)
  4. Gay rights movement
  5. Harvard University (thought you might like something a bit less heavy for a change!)
  6. Homosexuality (writer quit before starting!)
  7. Honorific
  8. Human sexuality
  9. Kinship and descent
  10. Parenting
  11. Pornography
  12. Rape
  13. Seminary (another break from the tough ones!)
  14. Sodomy
  15. Virginity
  16. Suicide

I have more in mind too!

Let me know if you want to take any/all of these on so I can put more tags on them. Thanks. --Jennifer Tanabe 18:51, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Responses

The article Human sexuality is good to go next. I'll tag it as Started. Overlap of material between articles is normal, so feel free to borrow from Monogamy! And you can always put one of these {{Main|Monogamy}} links in an appropriate place to direct the reader there.

I did think that everything on the list above has Unification consequences (except perhaps Harvard - that was for light relief!) Hopefully you can work on more of them later.

About Family, I'll check on it. I did put a link for more pics on its discussion page, and there was actually a picture of an extended family that seems to have gotten lost. I could retrieve that no doubt.

About comments on completed articles, I believe we editors have explained to Admin that we are not in a position to rework completed articles at this point, being under the gun to produce 50 new articles each month in order to achieve the target 10,000 in time. Please communicate directly with Frank and Gordon about any suggested changes you have for completed articles. Thanks. --Jennifer Tanabe 23:50, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

UA for Tribes?

I wonder if you have any words of wisdom on the topic of tribe? My writer quit on me, but I've managed to get the article into reasonable shape. I also gathered a few choice quotes for the UA but don't quite know what to do with them! I am sure that I don't understand our "tribes" and how they relate to past and present ones - any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. --Jennifer Tanabe 18:33, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Banshee Image

I saw your lovely Banshee image! We searched for one but couldn't find any public domain images. So I looked to see where you found it, but there's no "source and rights" - see the Writers Manual for explanation of what I'm talking about. I'll look forward to seeing where it came from when you get that added! --Jennifer Tanabe 19:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Jennifer: The image came from Google Images. I understand that all Google images are public domain.--Andy 23:18, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Well that would be nice! We were instructed to check for copyright, and most Google images say "Image may be subject to copyright." Gordon developed the Writers Manual guidelines very carefully to ensure there would be no copyright problems with any of our images - every image needs a "source and rights" to show there's no copyright. --Jennifer Tanabe 14:37, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Jen, sorry about that. If you like the image, maybe you can check it yourself, as I've moved on to other things. Here's the URL: http://www.legendsofamerica.com/SD-BansheeBadlands.html --Andy 01:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

That's wonderful if Tony Devine is willing to get involved! I've asked Laura to follow up. Thanks. --Jennifer Tanabe 16:43, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Edward Lord Herbert

Dr. Wilson. It's done. I added several redirects to the article. Thanks,--Keisuke Noda 18:23, 9 July 2007 (UTC) http://www.encyclopediaproject.net/wiki/Edward_Lord_Herbert

Sun Myung Moon

Hi Dr.Wilson. I was looking at an article, Sun Myung Moon, and was wondering if you would like me to create an infobox. Like the one you see on wikipedia for Sun_Myung_Moon with korean name, or something like Pope Benedict XVI with birth name and etc. The information on infobox could be about anything. It could be an original work and would not have to import it from wikipedia. Let me know what you will like me to do. --Hironori Mitsuishi 20:30, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I have no opinion on this. Please discuss with Gordon or Frank.--Andy 18:39, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi, thank you for your reply. I've already talked with Dr.Kaufmann and he directed me to you. But I guess I'll ask him again. --Hironori Mitsuishi 19:43, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Dan's list

Andrew: Please see User:Dan Fefferman/PhaseII List. I have responded there to some of your concerns. The most urgent issue for me practically is to get a substantial number of classical music articles approved this round, or I will run out of titles for David Eaton. I have a number of new titles waiting in the wings if it is decided that the articles dealing with specific major works are not necessary, and I would like to substitute these if the others are rejected. Also, on some of the other titles, it seems that you are not aware that editors are required to list wikipedia titles as is even if they intend to change them later. Please take this into consideration. Other than that, I think my comments are self-explanatory. Dan 17:10, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
