Today, computer and internet encyclopedias have largely replaced print encyclopedias. The most popular online encyclopedia, ''Wikipedia'' has  stunned the world; and as a leading force in the open source revolution has shaken assumptions regarding knowledge and scholarship to their very roots.  Some have challenged its reliability because of its policy to let anyone contribute to it, but it has stood up remarkably to tests and comparisons to conventional sources such as the ''Encyclopedia Britannica''.

''New World Encyclopedia'' is a wiki-based encyclopedia which contains carefully selected articles that were rewritten and supervised by a team of editors with academic and literary qualifications. ''New World Encyclopedia'' will have the same ease of use as ''Wikipedia,'' but will differ based on an editorial policy that includes a more rigorous article selection process, editorial review process, and its wholesome values orientation.

Featured Article: Pythia

Lycurgus Consulting the Pythia
The Pythia was the priestess presiding over the Oracle of Apollo at Delphi, located on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. The Pythia was widely credited with giving prophecies inspired by Apollo, giving her a prominence unusual for a woman in male-dominated ancient Greece. The Delphic oracle was established in the eighth century B.C.E. Its last recorded response was given in 393 C.E., when the emperor Theodosius I ordered pagan temples to cease operation. During this period the Delphic Oracle was the most prestigious and authoritative oracle in the Greek world.

Popular Article: Jesus of Nazareth

Jesus Christ, also known as Jesus of Nazareth, is Christianity's central figure, both as Messiah and, for most Christians, as God incarnate. Muslims regard him as a major prophet and some regard him as the Messiah. Many Hindus also recognize him as a manifestation of the divine (as do Bahá'í believers), while some Buddhists identify him as a Bodhisattva. For Christians, Jesus' example, teaching, death and resurrection are inspirational of a life of service to others, of love-in-action. More than that, the person of Jesus represents God's revelation to humanity, making possible communion with God.
