This article is about the term pluralism in the philosophy of mind. For other uses of the term see, see Pluralism.

The concept of pluralism in philosophy indicates the belief that reality consists of many different things.[1] It sits in contrast with the concepts of monism and dualism in the philosophy of mind. In this sense the term also has wider ramifications in a range of fields of philosophy as it implies that there can be no single explanatory system, or view of reality that can explain the totality of life or that there are many different viewpoints or positions that could be held.
