Hi,

I found a weird link on your page to a gambling website http://www.rickross.com I later realized that this must be a mistake and an
old outdated link and found out that the website rickross.com about cults is now http://www.culteducation.com You might want to update your links unless you want to promote online gambling.

Web Page: http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Polygamy
Link Text: Polygamous mother battles Canada deportation, possible loss of her kids
Old Link Pointed: http://www.rickross.com/reference/polygamy/polygamy400.html
Correct One: http://www.culteducation.com/group/1099-polygamist-groups/16743-polygamous-mother-battles-canada-deportation-possible-loss-of-her-kids.html

You state that Mormons instituted polygamy due to severe persecution reducing the eligible number of bachelors. While this statement has been given as a reason for polygamy when you look at the facts it doesn’t logically hold up as a reason. There were less than 100 men (women were also killed during the persecution) killed due to persecution with a total population of 15,000. The reality (according to census records and reports of residents) is that there were actually more men than there were women after the Mormons arrived in Utah.

Thank you for your comment.
I agree that this does not seem to be the reason for Mormon polygamy. In fact, I thought it was some kind of revelation Joseph Smith received.
This will be checked and the article revised appropriately.
Thank you again for taking the time to help make NWE a valuable information resource.
