Talk:Red Turban Rebellion
From New World Encyclopedia
Unification Aspects:
- China has experienced a series of historical cycles, in which a dynasty rose to power by military force and established a government, then became weakened due to corruption and misgovernment, coupled with discontent caused by famine and hardship among the people. Each dynasty was then overthrown or invaded by the succeeding dynasty, which eventually followed the same pattern.
- Although the main body of Red Turban army belonged to the White Lotus sect, the army also included groups of unorganized outlaws, bandits, and predators, who often attacked villages simply to plunder and loot them. Though the Red Turbans claimed that their ideal was the restoration of Han people and realization of utopia, they lacked concrete policies and methodologies. They could not gain support from intellectuals and their rebellion failed.
