There is a small park named after “Wild Bill” Hickok in what was rural Monticello township and annexed by the city of Lenexa, Kansas in the 1980’s. It is located about 1/3 mile south of 83rd street on Clare Road. Most of the land the Hickok homesteaded, and where the park is located, has been a residential neighborhood since 1973. See the Lenexa city website for details at: http://www.ci.lenexa.ks.us/parks/wildbill.html

Thank you, Bruce, for your comment. Wild Bill Hickok’s mother was Polly Butler. This will be added to the article.
