hello.i am curious as to the possibilties of using diseased trees[in quaranteened zones]to create fertilizer.ie .potash/.and as to wether this wood be a feasible means of creating a useable means of energy,[generation of hydro]as well as a means of disposing of the millions of tonnes of dead and or dying pine killed by the pine beetle.i know that pine has a lower nutrient value per tonne.but in order to remove the fire hazard and create a viable safe use[repeate]viable safe means of use for diseased or infected trees].could they not be used to make fertiler.or to produce other products while at the same time killing the eggs and or larvae of harmfull insects.with todays modern equipment and so many jobs being lost due to economic conditions has anyone looked into these possibilties.i have been involved in woodlot management in ontario for over twenty years and am trying to find alternative solutions for the hundreds of thousands of trees in my area that may soon be unmarketable due insects and the resulting quaranteens.thank you.i would apreciate any responses reguarding my entry here.
