Error in date found in history of Java.
“In 1956, the Dutch arrived and established the Dutch East India Company (VOC) with its trading and administrative headquarters in Batavia (now the capital city of Jakarta).”

Date should read 1656.

Thank you – the year was wrong, but the correct year of the first arrival is 1596. VOC was established 1602, with first trading post in 1603.

There are images of Javanese geographicities, cultures, and historicities –and perhaps others provided by ‘Bronze Sculptures fro Asia/by Martin Lerner’ (http://libmma.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/compoundobject/collection/p15324coll10/id/197409/rec/99).

There are also 59 other materials provided by ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art Publications’: (http://libmma.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/search/collection/p15324coll10/searchterm/Java/order/nosort).
