Please investigate the identity of the person whose photograph you have included in your piece about Spotted Elk, also known as Big Foot, the Minneconjou leader who was killed at Wounded Knee. The photo you have attached to your article is of a different man named Big Foot, an Oglala Lakota. It is not the man about who the piece is written. And be aware there is further confusion possible as there is also another man, this one named Spotted Elk, also an Oglala Lakota, who’s photograph is often erroneously thought to be that of the Minneconjou Lakota Spotted Elk, aka Big Foot, about whom your article is written. These mistakes of identity of the men in these photographs are frequently made, confounding the historical record. Thank you.

Yes, that photo appears to have been mislabeled.
The article will be revised to correct that error.
