I find the phrase “Scientists consider the Apsheron Peninsula (including Baku and Sumqayit) and the Caspian Sea to be the ecologically most devastated area in the world because of severe air, soil, and water pollution.” very bias. My objection is which scientists consider this? I find it hard to believe.

Thank you, Mike, for your feedback. You are correct that the statement is rather overreaching. In fact, the Absheron peninsula was seriously polluted due to petroleum production. Recently, however, the Absheron National Park was established to protect wildlife on the peninsula and great efforts have been made to reduce environmental damage. The article will be revised to reflect these developments.
