Good article but there is a mistake about the surface area of the Great Mosque of Kairouan
The Great mosque of Kairouan or Mosque of Uqba covers a surface area of 9000 square meters not 900 !!!
u can find this information in the official site of kairouan this is the link of the page about the great mosque :
http://www.kairouan.org/en/decouverte/Histoiredekairouan/lagrandemosquee.htm
as i say the great mosque of kairouan is a huge monument and forms a rectangle of approximately 125 meters * 74 meters with a surface area of 9000 square meters (96880 sq feet)
Another indication about the great mosque of kairouan
The great mosque of kairouan is the oldest and most important islamic building in North Africa

Another suggestion :
The current great mosque of kairouan dates from 863 AD

I hope that the the information will be corrected and the suggestions added
