Under the picture of Kennedy, you have his term of office 1947-1953. That was his term as House of Rep. not president!!!

You state as if it were a fact that Lee Harvey oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy, and you say the HSCA decided there MAY have been a conspiracy. An accurate biography that could be trusted and quoted by academics would have stated that Oswald, the accused assassin, was declared Kennedy’s assassin by the Warren Commission, appointed by President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who took office when Kennedy was assassinated. The findings of the Warren Commission were altered by the HSCA, which concluded that a conspiracy existed, though time and financial limitations made it impossible for the HSCA to fully investigate the matter. You fail to mention that the ARRB’s statement to the American people, based on new evidence, raised questions as to Oswald’s culpability. The book Inside the ARRB by a board member, Douglas Horne, contains copious evidence released by the government and offered by witnesses as to Oswald’s innocence. Your encyclopedia, by stating that Oswald assassinated Kennedy, without any qualifier, will no longer be respected in today’s better-informed milieu. Better to write, “The Warren Commission , working on the premise that Lee Harvey Oswald was the assassin, left many unresolved questions. The House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) determined that a conspiracy took place, with Oswald as Kennedy’s killer. In the 1990’s, the Assassination Records Review Board collected testimony and ordered the release of thousands of documents, many of them casting doubt that Oswald killed Kennedy. New witnesses and information, along with evidence that Dallas police mishandled Oswald’s case, suggest that Oswald was innocent.

Thank you for your comment regarding the assassination of John F. Kennedy. You are correct that the statement in the introductory section of the article should not have stated that Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated Kennedy. That statement has been revised.

The section on his assassination has also been revised to include the HSCA determination that a conspiracy was probably involved.

Thank you again for your feedback. Your contribution to the improvement of NWE as a valuable information resource is much appreciated.
