Update to your statement:The only medical school in the former British colony of Singapore was renamed the King Edward VII College of Medicine in 1921. Originally named the Straits and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, its new name remained until the University of Malaya was founded in the city-state in 1949, whereupon the College became its Faculty of Medicine.
Actually it was renamed the King Edward VII Medical School in 1913 prior to being renamed King Edward VII College of Medicine in 1921
