I like your New World Encyclopedia very much. It is more professionally written than Wikipedia (which has been my go-to online encyclopedia for years) and therefore easier to follow. However, I was just looking up Kenya, and the “page” seemed to start off mid-article with “Kenya’s location on the eastern coast of Africa and its central highlands that proved ideal for agriculture have largely dominated its modern history. The Portuguese and then Omani Arabs were the first to establish trading rights along the coast, . . . ”
It has the feel that an opening paragraph is missing. I’m no expert on encyclopedia articles and how they should be composed, but it is a little off-putting, as if I had read too fast and missed something. I glanced at a couple of other “country” articles which seemed to have a more “normal” opening, except for Sudan, which also seemed to be missing its opening paragraph.
Thank you, Shirley, for your comment. Happy to hear you enjoy NWE!
I took a look at the Kenya article and I agree, something is missing at the beginning. That will be remedied. And I will check on Sudan as well.
Thank you again for taking the time to help make NWE a valuable information resource.
In your entry on Kenya, the coastal city is written as “Mombassa” in one paragraph and as “Mombasa in another. Kindly correct that.
Thank you, Timothy, for your comment. That typo will be corrected ASAP!
