Aegean Sea
The Aegean Sea is an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea and an important natural feature of the Mediterranean region. It is located between the southern Balkan and the Anatolian peninsulas, between the mainlands of Greece and Turkey, respectively. In the north, it is connected to the Marmara Sea and the Black Sea by the Dardanelles and the Bosporus. The island of Crete is generally considered as marking its southern boundary.
