I just finished reading your entry on Metanarrative, the famous idea that marks the beginning of philosophical postmodernism. Unfortunately, there is a strong bias within it. The article several times gives a list of examples of metanarrative, and in none of them does it focus on Lyotard’s primary target: science. It holds up religion, enlightenment philosophies, etc., but excludes the one thing that was the focus of Lyotard’s primary work: a critique of scientific progress as the most destructive of metanarratives. Whoever wrote this has a strong bias, apparently, and does not see science or scientific progress as subject to critiques. For those who have read Lyotard, this misrepresentation is actually embarrassing for the New World Encyclopedia for the sole fact that it is so obvious an exclusion. Just thought you would want to know.
