Merleau-Ponty’s views on Malraux are reported here as if they were an accurate account of what Malraux wrote. In fact M-P’s comments are highly questionable. A careful reading of Malraux’s texts shows that he has misread Malraux in quite fundamental ways. Perhaps the entry should be reworded to reflect the possibility that these are only M-P’s views, and that he may in fact be wrong?
