I believe the following paragraph has an error:
“Pitman was married twice. His first wife, Mary Holgate, whom he married in 1935, died in 1857, and he married again in 1861 to Isabella Masters. With Isabella he had two sons, Alfred and Ernest. Pitman also served as the vice-president of the Vegetarian Society. ”
How could Pitman marry someone in 1935, when he was already dead plus his wife died in 1857.

Thank you, Susan, for your comment. Pitman died in 1897 after his two marriages, the first in 1835 and the second in 1861. The text is not incorrect but merely confusing and will be revised to be more clear.
