Vanilla planifolia reflects remarkably on the harmony of creation. The flowers open for only one day a year. During this time, it must be pollinated, but there is only one natural pollinator, a particular species of a Melipone bee. These bees and the plants have co-existed in harmony, with the plant providing nectar for the bee and the bee allowing the plant to reproduce. This plant also reflects harmony with human beings, who now reproduce the plant by hand pollination, while the plant provides the flavoring agent for people.
Human creativity has developed an imitation vanilla. However, it is considered less preferable in terms of flavor intensity and quality.
