Purpose

The New World Encyclopedia organizes human knowledge in a way that allowa a reader to learn information, not just for its own sake, but for its value to the world as a whole. The underlying goal of the encyclopedia is to promote knowledge that leads to happiness, well-being, and world peace.

The New World Encyclopedia is an ever-expanding body of knowledge that already boasts thousands of carefully selected articles.

The New World Encyclopedia is intended for use by teachers and students who are drawn to the ease of use of Wikipedia, but are concerned about quality, consistency and core values. New World Encyclopedia combines the great benefits of open source internet media with the benefits of traditional an careful editorial supervision by scholars. Here we have the benefit of hyperlinks and greater detail found on-line encyclopedias, combined with the benefit of reviewed facts, grammar, and values.

This encyclopedia transcends the metaphysical assumptions of both the Enlightenment and Modern Encyclopedias. The originator of this project is Sun Myung Moon. Thus, unvarnished scholarly content carries and projects values tied to human purposen the design of creation found in the world's great religions and spiritual traditions, as well as that which is clearly revealed through science and in the lives and work of people of conscience.

A Free Online Encyclopedia

This encyclopedia designed for the general reader and is available online and is free to all people with internet access. It is greatly indebted to Wikipedia pioneers, the GNU-FDL Free Document License. This path-breaking foundation combines with the devotion of NWE editors and writers who use Wikipedia articles as the basis for their articles and work to improve them based on training training and expertise in their respective subject areas, and compliance with strict writer guidelines for this project.

In keeping with the terms of the Free Document License, the article version of each document imported from Wikipedia is documented, rigorously cited, and hyperlinked to the Wikipedia article so that a complete history of its construction remains available.
