Caution regarding subject areas

Subject areas listed here are heuristic. They are meant to help us along the way. We realize that placement for many articles will overlap and some will not fit neatly into preset designations. At any rate, the Encyclopedia is ordered alphabetically by article, not by category.

Getting Started

Prospective editors and contributors should find in this list a "sense" of where their scholarly training and expertise fits in. Settling into a starting place will help define our working relationships. However, contributors should be sure to cover their designated article topic without feeling restricted by a category name.

The categories below are meant to guide and move us forward, not constrain us. The strength of this Encyclopedia lies in its vision, its governing philosophy, and its articles, not in a pre-imagined plan on how to divide all human knowledge.
