Featured Article: Arctic Ocean
The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and shallowest of the world's five major oceans. The northernmost part of the all-encompassing World Ocean, the Arctic Ocean lies entirely within the Arctic Circle and includes the North Pole region. Extending south to about 60°N, it spans an area of approximately 14,060,000 km² (5,430,000 sq mi) surrounded by Eurasia and North America. It is known as the coldest of all the oceans. Mostly covered by sea ice throughout the year and almost completely in winter, the Arctic Ocean's surface temperature and salinity vary seasonally as the ice cover melts and freezes. Climate change has resulted in a decline in sea ice extent, with considerable impacts both local and global.
Popular Article: Manga
Manga is the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons. In their modern form, manga date from shortly after World War II but have a long, complex background in earlier Japanese art. In Japan, manga are widely read by people of all ages, and include a broad range of subjects including action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, sexuality, and business and commerce. When used outside Japan, the term “manga” refers specifically to comics originally published in Japan. Japanese manga has had an increasing influence on both the styles and aesthetics of comics and on the marketing of comics internationally.
