- In physiology, a sense is a physiological method of perception preformed by many living organisms, especially animals. Vision, hearing, and taste are examples.
- In spiritual disciplines, a sense can refer to incorporeal means of perception performed by human beings, or can refer to capacities of the heart.
- In genetics, sense can refer to the coding strand of the DNA helix.
- In electronics, sense is a technique used in power supplies to produce the correct voltage for a load.
